- Yes to Family Values
Sometimes those who have gone before us say things better than we can say them ourselves:
If a people progresses, it takes its first step from the family home;
If illuminated, its light derives from the family lamp;
If united, its spirit and bond is the family;
If empowered, its strength and arm is the family;
If a people wants to inherit heaven after earth by keeping its religion, faith and church, then,
Yes, the altar that maintains these holy traditions incorruptible and whole is the family.
Khrimian Hayrig, an Armenian teacher, writer, poet, and priest (1820-1907)
I am against abortion. I feel that abstinence needs to be taught to both our young boys and girls, and our children need to be supported in making the right choices. The family unit is the source of strength in instilling morals and values in our young men and women. Should an unplanned pregnancy occur, the responsibility of those actions falls with both the man and woman. Our children need to be shown alternatives to abortion such as adoption. They need to be supported during these times when their life has taken a sudden turn down a path that had not been planned. As a family we need to support them so they will take responsibility for their actions and so they will not feel the need to take desperate measures in an attempt to hide a mistake they made. In those homes where the family unit is not providing the strength to support the correct moral and social choices, It is up to us as friends, family and neighbors to provide help by fostering and mentoring our sons and daughters so they can make the right choices.
Every child deserves the opportunity for a quality education. Our current educational system has sadly suffered by the interference of too many layers of government. The current system makes it very difficult for quality educators to choose preferred curriculums which would enable a higher degree of learning for all of our children, the leaders of tomorrow. Instead, they must use curriculums which support potentially higher nationwide standardized test scores in order to secure funding from the government to support their public school expenses.
Personal freedoms, such as the right to bear arms, epitomize why we live in the greatest country in the world. These freedoms, however, carry with them a level of personal responsibility. Sadly, we are experiencing an overall decline from the benefits of such freedoms by our deviation from accepting personal responsibility for our actions.
I believe that core family values are best represented in those moments when you are engaged in your daily life and you are an active and interactive member of your family. Words are easy to write, but the true value of your word can only be measured by how you live your life and what type of role model you are to your children. I am a firm believer in pursuing your passion, of stepping outside of my comfort zone if I feel a wrong needs to be righted, of pursuing a dream even with the risk of failure rather than to take no risk at all. My greatest dream is that my children will also realize that if you live your life with honor and integrity, the only outcome is success. I am not a politician, I am a person of honor and integrity and my passion is to secure a better future for our children.
